https://ift.tt/3AHqiu0 A man accused of sexually exploiting at least 180 minor girls and recording over 350 obscene videos has been arrested in Maharashtra's Amravati, in a prompt action by the police following a complaint by a BJP MP. Mohammad Ayaz, alias Tanveer, a resident of Paratwada city, allegedly lured the girls into a "love trap," took them to Mumbai and Pune, and filmed obscene videos of them. These videos were allegedly used to blackmail the girls and force them into prostitution. Some were widely shared online too. The minors were systematically targeted through WhatsApp and Snapchat groups, according to a memorandum submitted by Rajya Sabha MP Anil Bonde to Superintendent of Police (Rural) Vishal Anand. Bonde also warned of staging protests in front of the SP's office on Wednesday morning if a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is not constituted. Even some members of the Muslim community visited the police station to demand strict action against the a...

US May Be Eyeing Strait Of Malacca After Hormuz. Why It Matters To India

https://ift.tt/UG28ZBl As tensions escalate around the Strait of Hormuz, where the US is intensifying pressure on Iranian-linked maritime activity, a parallel development in Southeast Asia is drawing attention. A fresh defence arrangement between the United States and Indonesia has triggered speculation that the US' focus may be widening toward the Strait of Malacca, which is another critical artery of global trade. The agreement, finalised earlier this week, gives US military aircraft expanded operational access to Indonesia's airspace. Although it is officially framed as a step toward deeper defence cooperation, it could also enhance Washington's surveillance and operational reach over the Malacca Strait, which links the Indian Ocean with East Asia. Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore collectively manage this passage, which facilitates a significant portion of global trade transit. However, the timing of the deal has raised questions about whether the US is recalibrating...

India Gets Iranian Oil For First Time In 7 Years: Report

https://ift.tt/IGONxVm Two very large crude carriers loaded with Iranian oil have reached Indian ports, ship tracking data from LSEG shows, as local refiners utilise a temporary waiver granted by the United States last month to resume purchases from Tehran for the first time in seven years. The current waiver is due to expire on April 19. The Iran-flagged Felicity has reached Sikka Port in western India, while the Curacao-flagged Jaya is at the eastern port of Odisha, the data shows. A VLCC carries 2 million barrels of oil. India, the world's third-biggest oil importer and consumer, has not received a cargo from Iran since May 2019 after coming under U.S. pressure not to buy the country's crude. Indian Oil Corp, the country's top refiner, has bought Iranian oil loaded on the Jaya, a vessel under U.S. sanctions, Reuters reported last week. India has also allowed Reliance Industries Ltd, the operator of the world's biggest refining complex, to buy Iranian oil loaded...

Who Is Praful Hinge? SRH Pacer Who Picked Sooryavanshi, 2 Others On IPL Debut

https://ift.tt/ylvqkGH Praful Hinge caused mayhem in the Rajasthan Royals batting lineup on Monday. Playing his first IPL match, the Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer picked up the wickets of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on the first ball, Dhruv Jurel on the third ball, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius on the final ball of the first over. Hinge could hardly have imagined a better debut in the IPL. With SRH's bowling in the doldrums, the side drafted in the youngster, and he repaid the faith in emphatic fashion. Hinge was not done after his first over outburst. In his second over, Hinge took the wicket of RR captain Riyan Parag too. So far. Hinge has played 10 first-class matches (27 wickets), six List A games (five wickets).       "Praful Hinge is a young right-arm seamer from Vidarbha who has steadily built his reputation in red-ball cricket. In just 10 first-class matches, the 24-year-old has claimed 27 wickets at an average of 26.7, highlighting his ability as a workhorse. His exposure ...

Decoding Tamil Nadu Elections: The Numbers Game With Rahul Kanwal

Image
https://ift.tt/ICtm9bf In the Tamil Nadu assembly election, what are the changes actor Vijay's new party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) would cut into the vote share of the ruling DMK headed by Chief Minister MK Stalin? NDTV Editor-in-Chief Rahul Kanwal looks at some scenarios and the many 'what if' that may play out after sundown on counting day. Traditionally, Tamil Nadu has shown strong swings in change of power every five years. Would Stalin's DMK be able to hold on to power, or Vijay's TVK reshape the contest entirely? If the TVK gets 14 per cent of the vote share, it could be a knockout blow. But for whom? This, and many other questions are up for discussion among experts and editors on the ground who are trying to make sense of what would happen. In one simulation, TVK picked up 8 per cent vote share, which would dent the DMK and the AIADMK as well; 2 per cent of this vote share comes from the DMK and 4 per cent from the AIADMK. So it seems TVK is hurting ...

BCCI Begins Investigation Into RR Manager Romi Bhinder Using Phone In Match

https://ift.tt/uDHnJNg The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has initiated a formal investigation into Rajasthan Royals (RR) team manager Romi Bhinder, who was spotted using a mobile phone in the dugout during the side's IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Guwahati. The incident, captured live by TV cameras at the ACA Stadium, showed Bhinder using a device while seated next to teenage left-handed opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi , who was looking at the screen. The footage has since gone viral and raised questions regarding a breach of the league's strict anti-corruption protocols. According to the IPL's Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA) regulations, a team manager may use a phone in the dressing room area but 'NOT' in the dugout. Saikia confirmed to IANS on Sunday that the BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) is currently verifying the details of the incident and has begun its probing exercise. "As per the PMOA regulations, cer...

Kohli Throws Away Helmet Despite 50, Doesn't Celebrate Landmark. Here's Why

https://ift.tt/wmvbaTE Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the main protagonists in any Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Mumbai Indians clash in IPL 2026. Fans assembled at the Wankhede Stadium were treated to a Kohli half-century - his 65th in the IPL - which came off 37 balls. Yet, he appeared unhappy. In fact, he did not even celebrate the milestone after reaching it on the second ball of the 15th over bowled by Hardik Pandya . He departed two balls later while trying to break the shackles and looked frustrated. A strike rate of 131.58 may have been the reason. While Kohli was attempting to play the sheet-anchor role, the innings of Rajat Patidar (53 off 20 balls) and Phil Salt (78 off 36 balls) were in complete contrast. kohli throwing his off his gloves and helmet, man he's so pissed off by himself pic.twitter.com/8gbtBwX9tA — satyam (@noontonightt) April 12, 2026 Virat Kohli looks disappointed after getting out , Still he has scored a half century for not like Virat Kohl...
